Why Stick Nation exists
Leaving the military is an event.
Becoming a veteran is a process.
Stick Nation grew from the Stick Vet community and Travis Landchild's work around the path from Warrior to Veteran. The idea is simple: transition is not just paperwork, a new job, or a change of clothes. For many veterans, it means learning how to carry what happened, reconnect with people, and build a life that makes sense on the other side.
The Stick Nation community hosts a digital space for veterans on that path, alongside peer connection, honest conversation, mentorship, financial resources, video-game times, spaces such as the Not-A-Counseling Group, and so much more.
The demons we carry
There is no single version of the veteran experience.
Stick Vet's work uses comics, writing, storytelling, reflection, humor, and tangible exercises to talk about the complicated things veterans may carry home. The point is not to erase the warrior. It is to understand that part of yourself, work through what needs work, and keep moving.

Not-A-Counseling Group
One part of the Stick Nation community is exactly what the name says: not counseling. It is a peer-to-peer veteran support space for conversation, community, and being around people who have some idea where you are coming from.
Stick Nation is a community and outreach organization. Peer support is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. While there are licensed and accredatited people within our community, we cannot offer any form (paid or otherwise) clinical services. We are not a medical/clinical service.
